The Prime Minister, accompanied by Minister George Pullicino and Parliamentary Secretary Dr Frans Agius, kicked off a tour of the newly announced heritage park in the limits of Għajn Tuffieħa by visiting The Gaia Foundation's visitor centre and nursery for indigenous trees. They were given a tour by Dr. Rudolf Ragonesi, the Foundation's Executive Director, who explained that the centre housed over 10,000 plants of 40 different varieties, many of which are rare or hard to propagate.

Gaia signs management agreement of the Majjistral Park

During a full day activity at Manikata on the 27th January, 2008, marking the launch of the management of the Majjistral Park, which was declared a national park in September, 2007, a management agreement was signed between the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment (MRAE) and the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) on the one hand and three NGOs', namely, The Gaia Foundation, Din l-Art Ħelwa and Nature Trust.
