Dionysius Beach management
Dionysius was a youthful deity associated with anything that makes merry. In short, life is a beach. Beach management is another essential feature of coastal area management.
Ghajn Tuffieha and Ramla Bay, with their magnificent golden sand, are two of the most beautiful and popular beaches on our islands. The Foundation is managing these two coastal zone areas according to The Ghajn Tuffieha Management Plan (1997) and the Management Plan for Ir-Ramla and Environs, Gozo (2000) which were drawn up in consultation with various stakeholders and approved by the Environment Protection Department, Ministry for the Environment, Malta. Proper management includes beach safety, sustainable waste management, sanitary facilities, first aid and refreshments. The Foundation is working towards obtaining the prestigious UNEP Blue Flag Status for these areas. This will put Malta firmly on the green map of Mediterranean resorts and show Europe, which is our main source of tourism, that we can retain the highest standards in this field.
